LMT Abreu Loureiro, Correia de Matos & Galvão Teles elaborates a heraldic report on the tapestry from the sixteenth / seventeenth century that will be part of the next auction at Cabral Moncada Leilões, art auctioneers.
- Details
A tapestry from the 16th/17th, originating from India, was the subject of a heraldic report prepared by Lourenço Correia de Matos, a partner at LMT Abreu Loureiro, Correia de Matos & Galvão Teles, who identified in it the presence of arms of the Chaves, the Palhares and the Teixeira families, as well as a fourth coat of arms whose family could not be named, possibly being, due to its quartered composition (the shield divided into four parts), a combination of arms of different strains.
The tapestry has in its centre a square element with a “Tree of Jesse”, accompanied by four smaller squares decorated with “Angels” and four other larger squares that include the aforementioned coats of arms, all topped by helms, with their mantling and torsos, and crests. A border with figures of the kings of Israel surrounds the set.
Measuring 175 x 97.5 cm, this beautiful objet d’art, of Lusíada style, figured in the exhibition «Cumpriu-se o Mar» - A Arte na Rota do Oriente, part of the 17th European Art, Science and Culture Exhibition by the Council of Europe, at the core of the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon in 1983, being reproduced in its catalogue. It will now be on sale at the next auction at Cabral Moncada Leilões, to be held on the 4th and 5th of March of 2013, with the suggested opening bid of 25,000 euros.
LMT Abreu Loureiro, Correia de Matos & Galvão Teles conducts a historical and archival report to update the property registration of an old burial vault
- Details
In order to enable a family to update the property registration of their burial vault in Lisbon, LMT Abreu Loureiro, Correia de Matos & Galvão Teles conducted a historical research that allowed to document the deaths of approximately twenty people approximately since 1880 and obtain copies of all wills that had been issued.
With this documentation, all issued in the form of certificates, it is now possible to establish the path of the successive inheritances from the last registered owners up to the current holders, covering three generations of the family, which due to this may now update the vault to their name.
